Description
The Tropic Sweet Apple Tree (Malus domestica 'Tropic Sweet') is a specially developed apple variety ideal for subtropical and mild winter climates. Bred for early ripening and low chill hour requirements, this tree produces crisp, sweet apples with a refreshing flavor and a hint of tropical tang. With its glossy green foliage, delicate spring blooms, and reliable harvest, the Tropic Sweet Apple is perfect for home orchards and warm-region growers.
Key Features:
-
Sweet, Crisp Fruit: Produces medium-sized, golden-red apples with a juicy, sweet flavor and mild acidity. Excellent for fresh eating, juicing, or light baking.

-
Early Ripening: Harvest typically begins in late spring to early summer—much earlier than traditional apple varieties.
-
Adapted to Warm Climates: Specifically bred to perform well in warm regions where other apples may struggle.
-
Attractive Spring Blooms: Fragrant white blossoms appear in early spring, offering ornamental beauty and attracting pollinators.

-
Soil: Thrives in well-drained, fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH.
-
Watering: Water deeply and regularly, especially during fruit development and dry spells.
-
Pruning: Prune in late winter to shape the tree, remove dead wood, and encourage good airflow.
-
Pollination: Partially self-pollinating, but yields are higher when planted with a compatible apple variety for cross-pollination (e.g., Anna or Dorsett Golden).

Adds seasonal interest with spring blooms and colorful fruit.

How to Plant

STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
