Gala apples are crisp, sweet apples covered in a thin yellow to orange skin, highlighted with pink to red stripes that vary in hue dependent upon the apples maturity. Their dense flesh is creamy yellow, offering a mildly sweet flavor and floral aroma. Gala’s that are allowed to reach the peak of their sweetness on the tree will have a deeper red hue and a slightly sweeter flavor. They are small to medium in size and ripen in August. At maturity, the Gala apple reaches a height and width of 15-20 feet. They are excellent for eating fresh, salads, sauce, pies, baking, and freezing. Gala apples require 500 chill hours and require a pollinator such as Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Fuji, and Jonathan.

USDA ZONES: Zone 4, Zone 5, Zone 6, Zone 7, Zone 8.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Water apple trees regularly, making sure to keep the soil moist without drowning the tree. Prune in the winter while the tree is growing and in the summer once the tree has reached its desired height.
