Description

True to its name, Autumn Blaze is an ornamental tree with spectacular flame-colored fall foliage. The leaves are red-tinged in the spring, turn full green in the summer, and then erupt into its flame-like yellow and red in the fall. Besides its spectacular fall color, Autumn Blaze's upright rounded habit provides great shade for your yard and will keep you and your home cool during the hot days of summer. It is a fast-growing, deciduous tree which can reach heights of about 35 feet tall with a 30 feet spread. It is hardy to -25 degrees (Zones 3-8). Plant Autumn Blaze in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. This maple is partial to wet sites.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Maples prefer full sun or partial shade and may need to be staked when planted. Make sure to plant in an area where there is lots of room for the tree to grow. Create a 3-4 inch layer of mulch leaving room between the mulch and the tree's trunk. Water regularly after planting. Fertilize in spring and summer, and prune in late summer or early fall.
