Description

Finish out the season with the delicious, Autumn Prince! It is a juicy, freestone peach having 60-90% crimson red over a yellowish red ground color. The flesh is firm to very firm, melting, with very good slightly acidic flavor. Autumn Prince was released by University of Georgia, to provide an attractive, very late ripening peach adapted to the Southeast. The tree is very vigorous, productive, with low susceptibility to bacterial spot. Ripening 45 days after Elberta, it is a late season variety. Flowers have large, showy pink petals and are self-fertile. The variety requires an estimated 750-800 hours of chilling and is cold hardy in USDA Zones 5-8

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Plant peach trees in deep, well-drained, sandy soil and in an area with plenty of sunlight. Planting should be done in the spring. Prune once a year, removing vertical branches to encourage lateral growth.

Love this tree!

I'm so happy with my Autumn Prince. It has been in the ground for one season and put on SO much growth. Last spring was tough because there was a late frost that knocked out all the peach and cherries tree buds in the NE, but this year this little ( but definitely getting bigger,) tree seems primed to put on a show of beautiful blossoms. It has done better than most of the trees we've picked up for local nurseries. Tempted to buy another!

Autumn Prince is truly a Prince

Planted the tree on Father's Day. It is joining my other 12 fruit trees. This tree took about a day to get transplant stress over with since it is warm/hot. I usually try to avoid summer tree planting but I had a Pear die of Fireblight and needed something to fill the space. Tree is mulched, staked, fenced and adequately watered by me or mother nature. The tree arrived in a thick sturdy box to my home in Georgia. The plant would never fit in the box now as it has grown, relatively, a good bit. We needed a peach to cover the latter part of the peach season ie: September. This tree was an excellent choice.
