Description

Emperor One is an improved variety of upright Japanese maple that is similar to the classic Bloodgood. This dwarf shade tree, also known as the Red Emperor, offers 3 seasons of deep purple-red color and is noted for its longer leaf retention. Its leaves bud out about 2 weeks later in spring, thus reducing the risk of damage from late frosts. Moreover, it holds its fantastic color well in shade and is also more versatile than Bloodgood. The early spring color of this Japanese maple comes out as an extremely deep maroon with a brilliant translucent sheen that gives the leaves a nice shinny look as the sunlight hits them. The Emperor 1 Japanese maple holds its rich, dark red foliage well throughout the summer months, and has a brilliant scarlet fall display. The underside of the leaf is a rich olive green. A full sun or part shade lover, this plant is easily grown in moist, organically rich, slightly acidic. Well-drained soils. Mulch helps retain soil moisture and keep roots cool. Best leaf color in partial shade, although full sun can be tolerated. Leaf scorch can be caused by lack of soil moisture or excessive exposure. This extraordinarily stunning tree adds interest and distinction to your garden.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Maples prefer full sun and may need to be staked when planted. Make sure to plant in an area where there is lots of room for the tree to grow. Create a 3-4 inch layer of mulch leaving room between the mulch and the tree's trunk. Water regularly after planting. Fertilize in spring and summer, and prune in late summer or early fall.

My Emperor Maple

Ordered a 2-3ft. Emperor Maple. It arrived well packed but all the leaves are dried out. I am glad new leaves are popping out after 2 weeks. It was larger than expected which was a great surprise! Highly recommend.

Excellent Everything, from Value, Health and size, Shipping!

ALL beyond my expectations! I called before ordering, at almost store closing time. Customer Service was still very patent to explain all the questions I have. After placed my order, two, saplings arrived at exactly what they estimated date. They were in better than expected condition, either the size or freshness! Don't think I can get better than this anywhere else. I have planted next day. So far (about 10 days now) they are still live and in good condition, but not growing much. I will give it some time to wake up.

Hopeful!

Our tree looks fairly healthy, but about two feet from the ground it has a bad wound, all the way around the stem, then no new foliage for about a foot, then a few new leaves at the very top. We hope the wound will heal and we can enjoy a happy healthy beautiful tree for many years to come.
