Description

The Robinson Crabapple is a deciduous tree whose crimson buds open to beautiful red-pink flowers in early spring. With its beautiful flowers and attractive form, the Robinson Crabapple serves as a startling specimen tree. The tree has a medium growth rate and reaches a mature height of about 20-25 feet. It is hardy to -15 degrees (Zones 4-8).Crabapple trees are self-pollinating so they do not need to be planted with other trees.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Crabapple trees need ample sun and water to grow. They take about a year to establish, and during that time need regular watering. Water for 10 minutes once a week during the hot days of summer and spring, and then decrease that to once a month in fall and winter. Once crabapples are established they need little additional watering. Prune in the spring after the crabapple has stopped blooming.

Crabapple Tree

The beautiful little tree arrived with heat damage on the ends and barely any roots. It seemed it was ripped out of the ground and placed in the shipping pot with no soil but some sort of medium that did not let the roots get water but instead is light for shipping. I wrote a note to their customer service on what to do but received no reply. I immediately unpacked the tree and planted it; gave it a lot of water, and also doused the leaves regularly. With a lot of care, it now has survived one week. The tree is beautiful - the shipping was a disaster.
