Key Features:

  • Superior Flavor: Renowned for its sweet, aromatic berries with a delightful balance of tartness—perfect for fresh eating, baking, or preserving.
  • Extended Harvest: Produces an abundant crop of large, firm blueberries in mid- to late summer, with a long picking window.
  • Cold Hardy: Thrives in USDA Zones 5–8, making it ideal for both northern and mild southern climates.
  • Ornamental Beauty: Features glossy green foliage during the growing season, transforming into vibrant orange, yellow, and red hues in fall, making it a year-round garden centerpiece.

Maturity Size:

  • Height: 4–6 feet
  • Width: 4–5 feet

Care Instructions:

  • Soil: Prefers acidic, well-drained soil with a pH of 4.5–5.5. Enrich the soil with organic matter for optimal growth.
  • Sunlight: Full sun is essential for maximum fruit production and healthy growth.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist, especially during flowering and fruiting. Avoid waterlogged soil to prevent root rot.
  • Pollination: Legacy is self-fertile but benefits from cross-pollination with other northern highbush varieties like Bluecrop or Duke for increased yields.
  • Pruning: Prune in late winter to remove dead or weak wood and encourage strong, productive branches.
  • Mulching: Apply 2–3 inches of mulch to maintain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and suppress weeds.

Why Choose Legacy Blueberry?

The Legacy Blueberry is prized for its excellent flavor, heavy yields, and extended harvest season. Its robust growth habit, fall foliage display, and exceptional cold hardiness make it a must-have for home gardeners and commercial growers. Whether planted as part of an edible landscape or in a dedicated berry patch, Legacy offers beauty, productivity, and unmatched fruit quality.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide
