Description
Taylor Juniper is a popular columnar form cultivar of Juniperus virginiana, eastern red cedar. The semi-soft, blue-green foliage and narrow columnar form provide a refined, elegant look. This handsome selection maintains a more dense, upright form than its similar counterparts. Makes a great privacy screen, an entryway accent, or a dramatic vertical element to the landscape. It plays an important role in areas where cold weather hardiness is important, and cedar apple rust has become more prevalent. The tree makes a terrific choice for people looking for an attractive, durable, and fast-growing substitute for arborvitae and Italian cypress. Cold hardy in USDA Zones 4-9.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Taylor juniper requires no less than full sun. It will show deficits in growth and color in anything less. When creating a hedge be sure to plant your juniper with enough spacing between each tree to allow clearance for light to hit each side of the tree as it matures and the hedge grows. While the Taylor juniper is somewhat adaptable when it comes to soil it will thrive if planted in average soil that is somewhat moist but not wet. After the tree establishes itself, it is able to tolerate some drought and even prefers it.
