Description
The Jane Japanese Magnolia (Magnolia x liliiflora 'Jane') is a compact, deciduous tree or large shrub known for its graceful, tulip-shaped blossoms. A member of the "Little Girl" hybrid series, this magnolia is prized for its late spring blooms, which help it avoid frost damage common to earlier-blooming varieties. With its deep purple-pink flowers and lighter interior, the Jane Magnolia adds sophistication and charm to any garden setting.
Key Features
- Striking Blooms: Tulip-shaped flowers in a rich purple-pink hue with a pale pink to white interior, blooming in late spring.
- Compact Growth: Perfect for small landscapes, urban gardens, or as a focal point in larger settings.
- Cold-Hardy and Frost-Resistant: Late-blooming nature minimizes the risk of frost damage, making it ideal for cooler climates.
- Multi-Season Interest: Offers visual appeal year-round with flowers in spring, lush green foliage in summer, and attractive branching in winter.
- Low Maintenance: Adaptable and easy to grow, suitable for gardeners of all levels.
Mature Size
- Height: 10–15 feet
- Spread: 8–10 feet

Care Instructions
- Soil Requirements: Thrives in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Avoid overly wet or compacted areas.
- Sunlight: Grows best in full sun to partial shade. Provide at least 4–6 hours of sunlight daily for optimal blooms.

How to Plant

STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
