Fig - Beer's Black (Dwarf)

Ficus carica
USDA Hardiness Zones: 7-10.

$54.95
SKU: FIGBEE05GD

Description
Beer’s Black produces a medium size fruit and has that rich, sweet, buttery wholesomeness so sought after in a great fig. The fruit has a reddish-pink center and a violet exterior skin. Similar to Violette de Bordeaux, this is one of the best figs for eating and making preserves. Beer’s Black is self-pollinating, and it produces an early breba crop in the spring and then another crop of figs in the fall. Remember to grow in full sun, well-drained soil and dry out between watering. An exceptional fig for drying, but especially for fresh eating. A lovely addition to your potted container collection or plant directly into the ground in your outdoor garden space in zones 7-10.

How to Plant
STEP 1) First, decide on a planting location. Consider carefully what kind of sun, soil, and growing-space your tree or shrub will need.
STEP 2) Once you've located the perfect spot, the hole you are digging must be at least double the width and as deep as the root system you are planting.
STEP 3) Remove the plant from the pot and place the root ball in the hole. The top of the root system should be level with the ground. Before placing the tree or shrub in the hole, use your hands to gently break up the root system.
STEP 4) Once the plant is in place, backfill the hole with native soil and any leftover potting material.
STEP 5) Pack down the soil to eliminate any air pockets.
STEP 6) When finished, water thoroughly.
Care Guide

Plant fig trees in loamy soil and in a northern exposure. They need plenty of sunlight and room in order to grow and thrive. Fertilize once a year. Fig trees only require light pruning which should be done in late winter.

Poor condition.

Fig tree arrived bone dry, not bare root, and root bound. Roots were turning up through the top of pot. Additionally, 60% of foliage was browned or dead.

Large plant

The dwarf fig arrived close to full size with figs already forming. Very happy with the size, health, and delivery time of the plant.

Cutest little tree!

My tree arrived very well packaged. It was coming out of dormancy and now that it’s been about a month since I got it it’s full of big beautiful leaves.

Figgy

I named my fig tree Figgy. She arrived with only minimal leaf wilting damage. Shortly after Figgy arrived we had a big rain storm that she didn’t really care for, so she’s now drying her feet and enjoying the sun on the deck.
She look good and I’m looking forward to seeing her grow.
